Swans | The Great Annihilator | Review
Swans are still dangerous.
SWANS' REPUTATION for being the ultimate sonic noise of the late '80's has transformed into something much more subtle, but equally lethal. Gone are the imposing walls of solid feedback, to be replaced by hypnotic pulse beats of rhythm and mystical sound. Those who cowered in fear at Swans' early threat to their sanity should have no trouble here, but listen closely and the same, cleansing drone still vibrates from deep within the mix. Founder member Michael Gira's vocals, meanwhile, are as seriously sombre and graceful as before, Swans are still dangerous.
