The front and back covers are heavy, uncoated card stock, similar to the material used in recent Swans releases. The book is professionally printed (not on a copy machine). Hand stamped #s 1 – 2500 in red. The size of the pages is 8 ½ x 11 inches, printed on high quality, matt paper. Each book is signed by M. Gira, using a silver or gold paint-stick pen.
The book includes a CD (affixed to the inner back cover) featuring Gira narrating many of the stories included in The Egg, as well as a few stories from his (out of print) book, The Consumer.
Included are several full-page illustrations executed by Nicole Boitos, in close collaboration with M. Gira.
